COCREATE SOFTWARE LAUNCHES NEW DOWNLOAD SERVICE ON INTERNET HOMEPAGE

CoCreate Provides Broad Access to Design Products

FORT COLLINS, Colo., Jan. 28, 1997 -- CoCreate Software Inc. today announced a new download service on its Internet homepage that will provide broad customer access to ME10 7.2 demo software, ME10 8.0 beta software and DDS-C software (Design and Drafting System for Cabling).

The company, a subsidiary of Hewlett-Packard Company, is one of the first leading MCAD and PDM vendors to provide this kind of service for customers. Since a trial of the service, which was run during December 1996, more than 250 users have accessed and downloaded one or more of CoCreate's design solutions.

ME10 and DDS-C are part of CoCreate's mechanical computer-aided-design and product-data-management software solutions, which support CoCreate's concept of shared-space design.

CoCreate's ME10 software is a 2-D design, drafting and documentation solution featuring a "parts concept" that simplifies the design and modification of assemblies through a hierarchical parts structure. All design activities, such as designing subassemblies, creating instances, renaming and changing ownership, are simplified. ME10's powerful modification commands allow design engineers to copy, rotate, mirror, scale and stretch all elements, and its dimension-driven modifications allow them to make quick design changes by simply changing the driving dimensions. To provide easy Internet support, the ME10 help system is converted into Internet-ready HTML format, and the browser software Netscape Navigator is bundled with the software. ME10 also provides flexible licensing methods over company intranets and supports a compressed file format for fast data exchange over networks.

CoCreate's DDS-C software is a CAD/CAE solution used by electrical engineers and designers to create control-system schematic designs and control-panel layout and wiring. DDS-C uses the principles of concurrent engineering -- incorporating companywide or project-related design databases -- as well as a component library to ensure maximum re-use of component data. To support the Internet and intranet, DDS-C also provides users with a built-in function to generate reports and design information on the Web.

"Our goal is to create a superior service for our customers by making it easy for them to access and evaluate the software for themselves and learn more about CoCreate's advanced design capabilities at their convenience," said Tilman F. Schad, CoCreate's president. "All of our products have been designed to support the concept of shared-space design. This concept will enable engineers to collaborate more effectively in combining electrical, electronic, mechanical, chemical, optical and other disciplines that are an integral part of today's products. Our products will continue the strategy -- first by HP, and now by CoCreate -- of supporting platform independence, open systems and industry standards."

CoCreate Software Inc. is a software subsidiary of Hewlett-Packard Company. It develops mechanical computer-aided-design and product-data-management software that supports the concept of shared-space design. The software includes SolidDesigner for product-modeling design; ME10 for 2-D design, drafting and documentation; DDS-C for electromechanical design; and WorkManager for product-data and workflow management. CoCreate solutions are known for high quality, ease of use, customization capability and support of industry standards.
